The Trees are Vested Now

The trees are vested

now.  Done with

exposure, winter’s disclosure

is on the wane.  The sky

recedes as greener

arms prevail – each

leaf a sail, even while

trunks anchor

praise; theirs these waving

lauds – Soli Deo Gloria – in

this morning

season.

A lovely poem capturing the springtime glory of trees.

I enjoyed your poem! The emergence of spring is inspiring 🙂

I had to laugh. My first interpretation of “vested” was quite different. I thought perhaps the trees had been around long enough that they’d become fully vested in a retirement program!

I like your thoughts better. “Each leaf a sail” — someone has boating on his mind! I did think of the trunk as the mast, even though it’s not explicit.

Just a lovely poem for the season.

Wow, where has the week gone! Thanks for this. I was not aware of that use of “vest.” If I decide to rework this poem some day, I’ll have to play with the mast theme. Speaking of boats, we just finished painting the deck, and all that is left is the decals for names and call letters. Soon to water!
